One of the better 'local rides'
If you just want to stay off the freeways and don't mind taking the time.
As others have already indicated, great road. Starts out nice back in st Marie's, but gets better as u go further north toward st regis... better scenery and better twisties. Ends in gravel (about 10-20 miles or so?), so take that into consideration. Road condition is good, but not perfect, so requires a little more than the normal caution for a little gravel, potholes, etc., but mostly it's quite good. River scenery is great. And nice cadence to the turns in some sections more to the NE. I'll come back to this one.
This is one of my favorite day-long runs. Have breakfast in Eagle, and enjoy some nice twisties on Hwy 55 on the way to McCall. Have lunch in McCall, and relax on some nice open roads on Hwy 95 on the way back to Eagle. If you are getting tired, just jump on I-84 past Parma, otherwise take 52 through to Emmett, and 16 back down to Eagle. Take your time, get off the bike occasionally and enjoy the river and woods. A good run would take me 6-7 hours.
Long windy roads and highways threw eastern Washington!
Leaving Grangeville on ID13 it quickly joins ID14 for a fun, twisty climb to Elk City.
Running south from Grangeville, the US95 is a typical beautiful Idaho road with subtle elevation changes and some lovely corner combinations
A pleasant winding road through national forest inter dispersed with short sections of nice corner combinations
Longer day ride that explores the sweeping hills of Spokane that goes a bit underused by our biking community threw the East Palouse hwy into ValleyFord. Swing threw Rockford and out to the Coeur D'alene Casino, then take hwy 95 back into the city. For you Coeur D'alene riders, you can drop off the route there, otherwise you Spokane bikers, follow I90 on home. The bulk of the ride goes pretty much unannounced to the police, but once you head into Coeur D'alene the local cops have a presence. The roads stay pretty clean, but ride safe and always be cautious!
An absolutely gorgeous ride around Idaho's Hayden Lake, leaving from Crusier motorcycle pub on the ID-WA state line taking the freeway out to the county club at Hayden Lake. Loop the lake, and end your ride at O'Malleys; another great bike friendly eatery, by taking the Trent Highway scenery threw Rathdrum. Police are of a minimum around the lake, but pick up around the city portion of the ride.
Hells canyon is a very narrow extremely twisty road along the snake river. A boring country section in the middle then the final decent into Clarkston is spectacular.
Nice open country riding with one mountain pass.
One of the best twisty roads I have ever travelled.
About a 5 hour ride with a few stops to stretch and grab a bite. A good mix of curves and straight stretches and over one mountain pass (highest pass in Canada that is open year round (other than when closed because of avalanches). Watch your weather and don't forget to have your passport with you. This is an international route.
The ride from I-90 down Hwy 97 and 3 and over to Plummer on Hwy 5 is a lot of fun! Nice twists and good surfaces. From Plummer up to Coeur d'Alene it's pretty straight and in July very hot! Another way we will try in the future is to head from I-90 down Hwy 3 and back up the east shore via Hwy 97. Harrison is a good place to stop for a stretch and bite to eat. Lots of mining history there as well.
Great road in beautiful surroundings steeped in history. The switchbacks at Greer are excellent.
Fantastic selection of sweepers, climbing and falling with good surface with great views of the Salmon River Valley. Surely one of the best roads in this area.
Needing to make tracks from Idaho to Reno I discovered this very pleasant little route. Hwy 51 runs out of MH across the Snake River. It's desolate and mostly straight till you get to the border. There's a nice canyon carver there thru BLM land there with signs warning "Wild Mustang Crossing." Then right before Elko there's a great section of high speed sweepers. I liked 'em so much I turned around and rode them again! Nice surprise.
Amazing selection of corners and great surroundings
Great road, loads of corners (all kinds) and virtually no one around. A real treat.
Streams, forests, mountain views, nice selections of corners, all these make a for a good road! Recommended
Some nice corners but this road is mostly for the views
A very nice empty road that has many nice corners, takes in a national monument and is pretty well surfaced. Well worth a look.
Nice alternative to the interstate, the old US30 and the scenic byway part, note you need to traverse the interstate near the start.
Fantastic Moon Monument Craters, long straights and nice corners, interesting and varied, what more could you want :)
There are few fuelling points on this route, so beware.
