I came across this road by accident as I was heading to the A708 at Selkirk. What a delight. There are superb bends throughout with one huge open sweeping bend. Only shame is that it doesn't last longer and do watch out for the arrogant golfers nonchalantly dawdling across the road. I'm sure they go even slower when they see a bike! Miss Ellie's is a good place to stop although it does seem to be a bit hit and miss as far as being open goes at the moment. Do this road then take the A708 or A7 (depending on which direction your heading) and enjoy more great bends.

I ride on average 15,000 miles per year and the stretch of this road between the A7 at Selkirk and the A68 at St. Boswells is still my favourite. Climbing up from Selkirk you are presented with a super selection of twisting, well surfaced right and left handers; watch out for golfers and a blind car park to your right going up. At the top of the golf course there is a sweeping, open right hander which is ideal for practising your cornering shills as you can see round it. I often take less experienced riders on this road to help them with their cornering skills.

Most types of corners available for your enjoyment. Good left/right cambered uphill combination near the start and finishes with a great combination of downhill, ever tightening series of bends, Watch out for the wooded section where the final bend is a sharp left 'nip' downhill with a road grate on the apex. Leave time to have a breakfast at Miss Ellies Cafe at the end.
