the road is beautiful but the traffic is insane. there have been multiple serious accidents in the last few months. I´ve never known a road with such dangerous traffic. It´s a prime route from France to Geneva so heavily travelled by people in a hurry who think they can overtake on blind bends with no risk. I´ve seen a motorbiker kill himself one day by riding full tilt into a breakdown truck followed by a car driver landing on his roof and being hospitalised a couple of days later.
I’ve been up and down that toad a gazillion times and still love it. Avoid weekends when superbike riders flirt with death. The speed bumps and other deterrent measures have been removed, but police presence is high.
Authorities in Nyon have added speed humps and calming measures on entry and exit points on most corners, particularly on brake and acceleration points. This road can no longer be recommended except as an example of draconian anti bike sentiment by authorities.
A fun, interesting road, best ridden mid-week, in my experience. Only ever ridden down it. Watch out for idiots trying unfeasible overtakes. Lunch in Nyon, by the lake with views of the Alps.
This spot could have been wonderfull but there is too many people of different type on that road. People comming from France who know the road by heart and who cut too many curves (really dangerous when you go down), tourists (because this region is really beautifull), and idiots on motorcycle with few experience who go up and down and always faster. They often finish on the wrong side of the road. There is almost one accident each sunny day and the average of death on this road is 10 per year. It is a pity, because otherwise it is a wonderfull road... :-/
